mz sm125 problem

Postby bravefruitcake » Sat May 25, 2013 6:42 pm

hello everyone, im new here, but i was hoping someone would be able to help me....

anyway, my problem is that when riding around, alot of the time my bike has started to slow down and loose power, feels like its bogging, but if i stop (say at traffic lights, then carry on, it is fine for a moment then slows again, i cant work out what the problem is, i know its not low on petrol since it done it even with a full tank, and as for the radiators, i have it filled up with coolant.

has anyone had this problem before? if not, does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

also, does anyone know where i can get a derestricded cdi for my bike? it doesnt seem to go past 60mph and ive read its because its got a cdi thats restricted to 80kph (60mph)

cheers everyone, and thanks in advance :)

as far as i know only German delivered bikes had a restricted cdi and i think they did away with that just a bit back

have you drained the float bowl
lean bike against a wall or pole on its right side
find the front left side of the float bowl
there is a screw it can be seen from the left at the front bottom edge
open it when its open fuel along with nasty stuff will come out a drain tube
this should help
if bike has low miles less than 3000 miles its not broke in and will not go fast
the crud in the fuel does not help

as for speed see this link
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=49
i did this to mine years ago and am happy with it
as almost all roads my area i use are 55 mph or lower
speed works out to 69 mph max at red line
it will do 65 with a 230lb rider

i have emptied fuel from carb now, but it made no difference, would it be something to do with overheating maybe? maybe a sensor is broken?

im new to liquid cooled so i dont know how it works lol

how many miles on bike
mine never got very fast till it had over 3000 to 4000 miles on it
and after about 15000 it slowed down again

also it does not run very good on the fuel with ethanol in it...
i run 90 octane with no ethanol

and remember a 125 is still just a big moped
it is 2.5 times bigger

so 25 mph X 2.5 = 62.5
any thing over that is a bonus
