2002 125 sm rear brakes

Postby bharp1653 » Fri Jul 05, 2013 4:06 pm

Hello all, this is my first MZ, so im new to them and to this forum. I just bought a 2002 125 SM and noticed the rear brakes and have lost pressure. Im getting no feel from the brake lever at all. No leaks. Tried bleeding, nothing. Any ideas?

i have had the same problem with my rt125
on it i removed the system from the bike
as plastic does not like brake fluid
the master cylinder will come off with the rear caliper without taking the hose loose
if its like my rt
the pads are ebc fa 197
and it needs a clean out and flush

if you need a new one
try this
for the mastercylinder

kaw klr650 2008 and newer looks like same rear caliper bn125 kaw chopper may be the front
or some of the royal enfield bikes use the fa 228 pads of the front ??
a good clean got mine working again
dave
bleed by forcing fluid from the rear caliper out into the reservoir this is how i got all the air out
hang it from the reservoir this makes the air flow out better

Update: it looks like the brake lever is bent, will try to remove and straighten. If that goes wrong, is there a good alternative to oem? Im discovering those are hard to find.

Thank you david. I'll try the clean and flush. Just for clarification, the bike looks like a dirt bike with street tires and indicators, that is an sm correct? the internet wasnt much help.

the SM has 17 inch front and rear wheels the sx has different size front and rear
the sm if stock has a 49 tooth rear sprocket the sx has a 52 tooth rear

see this post ..if you live in a hilly area this will help with the hills
do read the whole post it does not work on the sx as you would need about a 56 tooth for the sx
