MZ SM Starter Clutch

Postby kdesilva » Wed Oct 02, 2013 7:28 am

Thanks to MZ's insane wisdom of not including a kickstart, I am left to rolling my bike down a hill and kicking it into gear...

Does anyone know where I can get a Starter Clutch as mine seems to have worn itself out??

I posted this about the 660 -

OK I have long complained about the starter clutch that made a hammering noise @ startup.
Here is the fix for that - and the part was made by L and L extreme - Monty Lightner - http://llextreme.com/
Call him and mention my name.

Anyway the pics are below.

The original part is one flimsy POS. The part I got from Monty would have eaten it for lunch 1000 times over.

The clanging @ startup is all gone.

Cool.
Srinath.

save all the old parts
my winter project is to see if i can design a fix to them as this is a major breaking point
and i need a couple used broken ones to experiment on
dave

there is a how to on here about the fixing of them with stock parts
do read the whole thing
it includes warning about oil pressure and a slip clutch that needs adjusted and cleaned

Dave, I have one that I replaced a month ago. Was working fine, let the bike sit for 4 months and it didn't work.
I will send to you. ---Steve
