UK MZ SM/SX 125 owners?

Any UK based people? I havent got mine yet but looking to pick up the SM in around a month and would love to know peoples opinions and experiences, like dealers, parts etc etc.

So any UK people listn what you got and where you got it and any advice on parts or upgrades and where and how much, etc etc you know the deal :)

I got a second hand 2004 SM125 with 200km on the clock last Friday.

I'm really pleased with it - it handles pretty well, and is fairly quick for a
125. Don't believe some of the hype about top speed though - I checked
my speedo with a GPS today - a real 60MPH indicated about 74MPH!

I've bought the MZ topbox, which is a
MZ rack carrier which replaces the grab rails (but still provides grab
rails), and a topbox made by "shad"

The top box is a little small - so it might be worth getting a larger one
from "shad" directly, and just the rack from MZ.

I got both from my local dealer in Sandy, Bedfordshire. The rack was
about 45 quid and the box 50.

I do about 50 miles a day in my commute to work, so I will have my
first service (1000km) real soon!

Know of anywhere to get performance parts in the UK for the Sm125?

Your dealer should be able to get hold of all the standard MZ
accessories, which includes 2 Sebring exhausts - one road legal, and the
other not.

Other accessories include different size front and rear cogs.

Other than that, you seem to need to get it from germany or US.

The basic tune seems to be new exhaust, new air filter and remove
the snorkel, then get the carbs adjusted.

There is also a 150cc cylinder kit from wiseco, and they have a UK
distributor, but they do not advertise this part, so it may have been
discontinued.

the story i got was the 150 kit was a MZNA item made by wiseco
and you get it from mz dealers

The bike was 1895 UK pounds. The list price is 2750, but I think it
can be bought for 2550. It was 9 months old, and had 200km on the
clock.

I've just had the first service (1000km) done - they changed oil, oil filter, and checked valve clearance. It came to 83 pounds. (The first
service would normally be free, but as I bought a second hand one,
not from an MZ dealer, it was not)

thank u so much tj for sharing it with us .. wonder why the bike was so xpensive on european country although it was made on the deutschland ! the cost should be lesser .. in my country this bike will only cost u about 1430 pound ..... first handedly .. sigh :cry:

Well amon goeth do u know that MZ is owned by HongLeong Group? Maybe since it has a plants here (not that i know producing any SM) ans the HQ is here they sell it cheaper. HHHEHEHEHHE :lol: Just my thot

guys,malaysian mz's are assembled locally(CKD)to cut tax costs... but for markets other than Malaysia,they are CBU...brought in as a whole...this means higher tax...
those that were assebled in Germany sells at a higher price as their labour costs are higher...

ON TOPIC

anyway,IMHO the 150cc performance kit is way too expensive compared to the power gained...i mean an extra displacement of 25cc for $400++??come on...sorry if my words are provocative... :oops:
there are lots of other ways to gain power with $400....
