MZ 125 SM Problem

Postby Treesrgreen » Sat Jul 05, 2014 3:48 pm

I recreantly brought MZ 125 SM 2005 and I'm not getting any spark at all. I think it might be the CDI does anyone know where I can get a CDI from?

the relay 19 problem if relay 19 not on or its contacts bad then cdi box not getting power

this can also be a bad side stand switch or kill button

give me a day or so and i will send you a PDF file of how to look for the problem

i have not heard too many complaints that a cdi was bad
its always been it was not getting power for some other reason
dave

here is a link to a drawing of the 660 bikes on them its relay 30
it connects the power up when you turn on the key
the relay is not located the same place on an rt125 as a sx or sm
mine is near front of battery not sure where sx or sm it is located
when it works it hooks up a red white wire to a red black wire
i am looking for my camera
right click and save image as to save drawing

NOTE
1the kill switch on the right handle bar must be in the on position
2 the bike in neutral
3the sidestand up

then you will have 12v on both red/black and red/white at the relay contacts when the key is on

on my rt125 if it sets for a long time and carb dries out its a bastard to get started when the carb is dried out....

I've done all that and still no spark, I'm going to take it down my local bike garage tomorrow and see what they have to say

I'm assuming you've tried a new spark plug? If so have you made sure the spark plug has a ground? If not put the side of the spark plug to the frame or engine, be sure not to hold the spark plug whilst doing this or wear some safety gloves otherwise you may get a 12 volt shock ha!

Trying to save you a hefty labour bill!

Sorry its late

Due to a extremely poor wiring loom the CDI was fried.

Had to replace the loom and the CDI
