I'm feeling quite dumb... How do you get the seat off of the SM 125? I don't see a pull latch and I don't see any restraining bolts...

Any help?

Hey David - I thought there might be something like that, but I didn't see any. I'm going to take a picture today because I don't see a single bolt in the center...

Here it is. Thanks to the pic I've actually had a better look at it .. do you reckon it's the hole sort of between those two long bolts?

\EDITED to post proper size picture

this not what the parts book shows

me thinks this bike suffers from several past owners

those two rusted bolts need replaced with an oem bolt

or SS bolts i think "JIM JOB" has been hard at work

hope he did not work on the electric system

need to fix this ...as those rusted bolts will be hell to get off if they rust some more

I don't know ... I only know of one owner who I don't think was the most mechanically inclined..

so no ideas on how to get this seat off?

At this point I can't even get to the battery or the sparkplug

lots of wd 40 and grab the tip of bolt with a vice grip tool

and use a open end wrench to try to unscrew the nuts

then clip vice grip on above the nut and try to get it to come off

probably lost the oem bolt first time they had the seat off

small bikes live a hard life over here if they last 5 years and 3000 miles there lucky

people do not believe i have 21,000 on mine

and they trash a car by just looking at it and then driving it a few weeks

Which ones? You think those two rusty ones are holding down the seat? I think they are actually for the rack on the back...but I will take another look

the 2 rusty ones

there too long to be oem parts
if you need to work on some thing
this needs corrected so you do not have a mess

getting to what the real problem is

i do not think the 2 rusty ones are for the rack
but they may be holding on the seat as well

if the original grab rails have been replaced
and the country your listed from explains the rusted bolts
its hard to get away from the salt when you live on an island

I can confirm those two rusty bolts were not holding the seat down... I pulled them out and she's still stuck on lol.

There's something central that's holding it, when I lift up the back end I can feel it being held right at the center

maybe past past owner knows how its on there
or look up that center hole and see whats in it maybe an 4mm allen hex screw ??

or see if the fender liner will come off with all the screws removed and then you can see the problem

There is supposed to be one Dzus fastener to retain the seat from middle of under fender. If the fastener is gone and no bolt is present, slide the seat rearwards. It is held by both forward and rear plastic eyelets. You might need to push down while sliding it rearwards.--Steve
