Short intro - RT 125 owner

Hi all,
when searching for information about the small 4 stroke MZ I found your very informative forum. I am from Southern Germany, drive a 1986 BMW K75S and since 2 months, a 2003 MZ RT 125. Whereas there is a very active German forum for the BMW, there is only a small community of MZ 125 (4 stroke) drivers.
I bought the MZ in a rather neglected condition with 22000 Km on it. Optical its ok, but services seemed not to have been done regularly, e.g. the oil filter was from 2004 (the production year is stamped on it, but of course I might have been changed later), air filter form 2007 and the front tire was still the original one from 2003. I changed all liquids, all filters, disassembled and cleaned the carb, changed several O-rings and the float assembly in the carburetor, also changed the cam chain (which was very worn and already acted as a saw, almost cut the oil channel), the free wheel drum, cleaned all electrical connections, controlled and adjusted the valves etc.. Now it is running more or less good, not as fast as I though, not as economic as it should, but reliable. But I am optimistic to find in this forum possible solutions for future problems.
Martin

And I have ten of the 125 four strokes. Where did you get parts? There is a rumor that a former MZ employee is getting parts from suppliers to sell. Are you in a position to explore this? I have so many 125's to insure a parts supply. --Steve

Sold it (already in June) after 11000 Km very reliable km! (Totally 33000 Km.)
It was replaced by a BMW R1100R (build in 1998, 72000 Km).
Bye
