Oil Pressure Switch

Postby starfield181 » Thu Jun 20, 2019 1:43 am

Just got a 2003 RT125 and am checking it over. The oil pressure warning light does not come on when ign switched on. Traced the wiring and the bulb lights if I ground the wire to the pressure switch. So I assume the switch is duff. Pu ta meter on it and I get a very high and fluctuating resistance.

Question is are these switches special to the RT or is it a standard part I could get from my local car spares shop. Did a quick search on line and the only switches I could find were in Germany and cost around £30 plus very high postage to UK. Even my BMW switch only cost me a tenner once I had got the part number. The spares book only lists an MuZ part number.

Thanks

Peter

9015232000 .5 to .8 bar it is number 11 on parts book page it screws into the cylinder head

running bike very hard for long trips kills the oil and lamp will start to flicker
its time for some new OIL

see a very good parts store for a replacement

on the Head i have it appears to be 10 x 1.0 pitch

on my bike a trip of 400 miles at 9000 udn/rpm the oil light will flicker at idle
telling me i have done damage to the oil and its time to replace it..
this is a tough engine but its hard on 20w50 oil

Thanks Dave,

Would appreciate the thread size if you are able to provide. My guess would be SEE NOTE 1/8" BSP based on a picture I found on a German website.
NOTE 10x1.0 thread
Funnily enough, I may not need one as in trying (and failing) to get the old one out, I have disturbed something and it is now working again. It may just need a clean and reseating to give a better earth contact; but first I need to make up a spanner to get it out as its very tight. None of my present spanners or sockets can get into the space available.

Regards

Peter
