Which of the MZ original colours do you think is the best?
I have no idea of the range or original colours so it would be interesting to find out.
My bike is a 1991 MZ ETZ251 in red it is not the original red or may not even be the original colour, will find out when I ge to painting it.

The thing is, depending on where your bike was sold, colour choices seem to vary..

Let's take the ETZ250 for example- in Britain, the only official colours seemed to be Green, Red, Blue, Silver, Black. Just base boring colours. But on the continent they came in some nice looking varients, like a duck egg type of blue, orange, etc. These colours seemed to be available in the pre-luxus models in the UK too, but not after.

The TS250 in the states seems to only be in Blue or Red.

My bike was from the looks of it, originally a boring 'british racing green' type of green from the factory (common), but had been re-painted a few times since 1987. I painted it Orange. Why stick with the boring colours, when Europe had some nice ones?

My etz251, I do believe was a red. The same red you have likely as not. Previous owner painted it a weird obergenish type colour, Gawd know why.

1979 Suzuki TS185ER - 9,000 miles - Mud :)
1981 Honda CX500B - 91,000 miles - Long Distance :)
1987 MZ ETZ300 - 38,000 miles - Sun :)
1989 MZ ETZ251 - 49,000 miles - Commute :)

Following a biased and flawed moderator choice (someone posting aggressive personal attacks is rewarded, while my technical posts are removed - behind my back & without any justification!), I have withdrawn from this forum.

My recollection is that in britain in the eighties all the ETZ250s seemed to be either black or metallic silver, and that some or all of the silver ones were originally dark green. The story goes that nobody would buy them and the distributor eventually resprayed them. There might be some truth in this as I had a silver one that showed green around the filler.
Nearly all the TS bikes seemed to be either blue or black, although red was also available.
For me red is best for the TS, and silver for the ETZ.

Nice blue on the etz, metallics must be unusual on MZs.
I like some of the continental colours as seen on some euro youtube videos.
Post a pic if you have one, good to see the full range of colours :)

Cheers
