TS250 Kickstart position

Postby Andy_C » Fri Jul 02, 2021 12:29 pm

Just wondering whether the kickstart quadrant may be broken, or it has been somehow wrongly assembled.

The kickstart does not engage until about half way down it's stroke - kickstart almost in line with the footrest.

Is this normal? seem to remember my ETZ used to engage much higher up the stroke.

It's funny you bring this up.. My ETZ 250 has the same problem.. It is level with the footrest before it engages firmly.

My 251 on the other hand engages a lot higher and is what you might consider normal.

I'm not entirely sure why- I'm guessing the notches on spring that pushes the ratchet out are welded not in the most ideal degrees?

Not sure how the kickstart quadrant is assembled onto the kickstark shaft, have a feeling it may be splined onto it. If so then it should be possible (with a decent press) to be able to re locate the quadrant on the splines.

Something to look at sometime.

Following a biased and flawed moderator choice (someone posting aggressive personal attacks is rewarded, while my technical posts are removed - behind my back & without any justification!), I have withdrawn from this forum.

Puffs - you are probably right, and I will investigate some day, just trying to establish if this was "normal".

It does annoy me that you are half way through the stroke before it starts doing anything.

Watch this space..........
