MZ TS250 1979 new project

Postby alexxx » Fri Oct 22, 2021 6:55 pm

Hi Folks, just got an MZ project a 1979 TS 250.
Bike seems original and complete but I am not familiar with this model.
I'll post pics later when I get it screwed back together after transporting it in the back of the car.
The bike has higher bars then the usual flatter ones I see though I have seen some with these higher bars, were they offered with both types?
Is the brake cam lever inside the hub on these models?
It has been laid up (likely outside) for the last 20 years as an 01 tax disc is displayed, the motor is seized, not sure if by weather or the last time it ran.
After assembly I'll try to free the piston slowly

After 20 years there may be quite some rust, on both the barrel liner and the crankshaft bearings...

Good luck!

Hi Alexxx,

Congratulations. Never owned a TS250. So looking forward to a build thread............

The US models (mainly '74) had high bars. Front brake is the same as they used throughout the decades- no change in design, except the early TS's had the same inside drum brake switch contact that the rears continued to use- maybe...
