Following a biased and flawed moderator choice (someone posting aggressive personal attacks is rewarded, while my technical posts are removed - behind my back & without any justification!), I have withdrawn from this forum.

Still no spark. I purchased a new regulator from MZ spares, and also discovered that the plug cap was faulty, so I thought I had it cracked not so, the homemade electronic ignition is the cause, you see I have no idea who made it, today I traced back the wiring from the (black box with an LED on it) obviously part of some kit, there was a blue wire that later was joined to a black (SW) this then went into the connector block that has about 7 or 8 connections, this black wire then goes to the ignition coil, and also up to the ignition light switch, but that black wire was cut off? I joined it back to the other black wires and it blew the fuse? I am lost at this moment. I have purchased the bits to return it to points for the time being, but these wires that have been chopped concern me.

Sid.

If it was me doing this, I think I would remove the homebrewed ignition and put it to one side - out of sight and mind.

Next I would wire up the points to the coil using seperate wires if needs be - even just go battery straight to coil, coil to points, points to earth - that way you know exactly what wires are going where and it should produce a spark.

I would disconnect the wiring from the dynamo until you have got it running.

I think you said earlier in this thread that you think it has been converted to 12v - are you absolutley certain?

If you stick at it you will win - if you look at my recent TS250 thread you will see that it took me ages to get it running properly.

Good luck.

I've seen pictures of this ignition somewhere. I think the supplier name started with a B, but I can't find it anywhere on the Internet now. It's not home brewed, but an early supplied electronic ignition from some minor third party producer in the UK. It's wrecking my head that I can't find it, or its producers company name.

I agree with Andy, I have a set of points, have purchased a second-hand dynamo on eBay with the capacitor and points backplate on it, I have purchased a new coil on its way, the bit that puzzled me and blew a fuse was a wire from the elec ign black box went to the multi-connector block and then on to the coil, but sat with it was another black, I traced this up to the ignition key switch in the headlamp, when I re connected that the fuse blew, the whole lot is going in the flippin' bin.
Also I got this with the new solid-state regulator, It tells me to put 61 and D+ from dynamo together ??

I think it was likely Burwins, but didn't like to say incase it led Sid down the wrong path.
