TS 250/1 Neutral Selection

Postby MZFred » Wed Apr 27, 2022 4:26 pm

Has any one had issues selecting neutral from 1st gear when coming to a stand still and if so how have you resolved the issue?

The gears selection is ok up and down through the box but but unless I select neutral from 2nd gear when coming to a stop it is near impossible to select neutral from 1st gear. I have set the clutch cable adjustment as per manual and even altered the gear pedal to obtain best position for me but to no avail.

Any advice/recommendation would be greatly appreciated!!!

Sometimes it can depend on the oil used. I've had oil in the past where when the engine was cold the gearbox JUST WOULDN'T SHIFT. But when warm it was fine..

I've had a few MZ 2Ts do it. My current one is, even with a spanking new clutch in.

I usually use Silkolene Light Gearbox oil, but am tempted to go even lighter. I've even used ATF in the past.

Because of the way the oil pump is driven I really don't like sitting somewhere with the clutch in for long.
