But it raises the question: how is this possible? I would guess that in their production process they had a mould used for casting that plate, and a drilling process that should ensure it's all true. So something must have happened in the +/-40 years since. Is it the top one, which gets most of the force during braking? It the post bent?
It's the pivot drilling through the shoe which has not been drilled perpendicular. It's about a degree or so off. They look to be recent shoes, I guess quality control is not as high on the agenda as it should be for some of these aftermarket parts suppliers. It was probably caused by a lump of swarf holding the shoe off the datum point on the drilling jig, I reckon.
