Postby anarchychoppers » Wed Mar 07, 2012 7:14 pm

I have a 1974 TS-250 what are the positions of the ignition switch. There are 6, It I start in the off position there is one anti clock wise and 4 clock wise. what are the different positions. I have figured out the wiring, cleaned the carb, and picking up a 6 volt 12 ah battery on friday. So I will be ready to start and take her for my first MZ ride.

dont know for sure the direction of turn but i think they go like this

Position 1, 1st click anti clockwise, ignition off, parking light on
" 2, clockwise one click from above, ignition off, lights off
" 3, clockwise one click from above, ignition on, no lights, exept brake lite and indicators
" 4, again clockwise one click from above, ignition on, indicators, parking light and rear light on
" 5, ignition on, and all main lights on
" 6 not used

I think......

Cool I am going to pick up a battery tomorrow and see if I can get her to start. I just didn't want to kill myself trying to start her in the wrong position.

volt meter should show 1 or the other side of spark coil with power when switch is in a run position

do inspect the system before hook up

i was looking at my rt 125 today and one of the wires is broke to the horn
it was working when parked in nov 2011

As I remember it from full right the postions are
1)Emergency start .. allows bike to be started with a flat battery on a bump start in 2nd gear
2) Parking. Rear light and pilot light on, key removable
3) OFF Key removable
4) Ignition on lights off
5)Ignition on pilot light and tail light on
6)Ignition on headlight on tail light on

Good luck with getting in ring ding dinging!
