I have been having an issue with fouling spark plugs and i cant find the iridium ones so i put a hotter burning hgk is that ok

it is a 1974 mz ts 150 and i see oil coming out of the exhaust

Plug fouling is usually due to too rich a mixture, check your air filter is clean, and that your choke isn't sticking on. If the cable is frayed inside it can stop the choke from closing fully. I could also be time for a decoke as your getting oil from the exhaust. On the spark plug side, if you can't get an Iridium one try using the projector nose version of your standard, ie, if you use an NGK b8hs, swap it for a bp8hs. The center electrode sticks out into the combustion chamber, and is 'cleansed' by the hot gases on ignition.

To be honest Ive never found a need for iridium plugs, or projector plugs in many years of riding MZs. If its fouling constatly something is wrong. As radiograf says check your airfilter and cold start device. Its also worth taking the coldstart device out and making sure the rubber seal is still attatched to the brass part. Cleaning the silencer is difficult but I have had sucess with 2lb of caustic soda and hot water although this is VERY DANGEROUS if you dont take proper precautions. Another possible is a failing coil providing a weak spark

I have been running the new rings in and have been using a stronger mixture also i just recently put carb cleaner in so it may be loosening all the crap up. Put the hgk6 in and she seems to be ideling better even. As far as the air filters there ajoke on theses models.

If by "Stronger" you are using more oil then I would probably go back to using the correct mixture after half a tank of your "strong Mix" as too much oil stops the rings bedding in. The best way to run it in is the old BSA way, Build up the engine speed slowly never labouring the motor or holding the revs at one speed for any length of time. It takes a bit more time but seems to pay off in reliability.
