MZ RT125/3 Help needed

Postby Stuart109 » Wed May 09, 2012 2:31 pm

Hi

I have just bought a RT125/3 a model from the early sixties. I plan to get it going and ride it just as it is, unrestored. It’s not in bad nick for something this old.

It is all just about there the engine turns over and has reasonable compression but the electrics are a bit of a mess.

Anyone know where I might get a wiring diagramme and parts?

Also any tips from someone who owns this model.

Thanks

Stuart

Hello Stuart,

I have a 1959 RT125/3 which I bought several years ago as an uncompleted project. I decided a few weeks ago to lavish time and money on the bike and make it live again. To this end I have ordered quite a few parts from a supplier in Germany, they are in transit to me now. It's my intention to post a review of the parts purchasing experience once the shipment has arrived here.

I have a wiring diagram for the /3 which I will attach to this post.

In the shipment I am expecting are included a parts catalogue for /3, and a repair manual for ES125 which I am told is the best match to the engine and four-speed gearbox of the /3.

I'm sure I will have questions for this group once work is started on my bike, and I will do what I can to help you with yours.
