any advice is more than welcome

I am a maintenance engineer and classic car and bike restorer

Nice to see another Supa 5 heading back to the road, in my opinion the best of the MZ engines. Loads of spares available at reasonable prices so should be a good project for you.

Looks like it's nearly all there, so given the time, should be reasonably straight forward. The joy of doing up old Zeds is that the parts are so cheap and (mostly) readily available.

If you haven't discovered these yet, I can personally recommend them all :-

1/ The MZ Shop (UK)
2/ OST2RAD (Germany)
3/ MZ-B (Hungary)

Paint colours on MZs tend to be a bit variable. Probably the best thing to do is take the sidepanel off, give it a good rub with t-cut or similar , then take it to a local car paint place and ask them to match it. Not much more expensive than getting a similar paint from an autofactor, and probably cheaper than Halfords and the like

Hi well the bike is almost stripped, if I can get the seized screw out of the airbox, the bike is a lovely metallic brown , however I am doubting that this is the original colour now. The tank has blue below the brown as does the right hand side panel, have the panels been replaced? or has the whole bike been another colour? The airbox is metallic brown inside and out with no signs of blue. I have the original logbook from new and it states it is brown, it was registered on 17/09/1982 and the document date is 01/10/1982 so it would appear the brown is genuine, do you agree ?

Well I have got the frame, swinging arm, and the other parts all stripped ready for blast and powdercoat next week. Thanks to Kev Cranston ( a very knowledgeable total two stroke petrol head) for the new barrel and piston, what this guy doesn't know about two strokes isn't worth knowing and a nice guy too. Now then I have a dilemma , , , , , the paint job

she was originally metallic brown, at some point shes been in a drop or bump and been resprayed, the replacement tank and panels have blue underneath

the mudguards are also brown, shouldn't these be silver?

the dilemma is what colour do I paint her? should I keep her original or do I go with a nice red black or silver?

your opinions please

and on the other is, "what about silver? blue? black?

aaaarrgghh the voices are driving me mad
