Hi folks,
Just been looking for a front tyre for my MZ ETZ251 and there is very little to choose from, I found some Maxis on ebay and that was it.
Where do you UK guys get your tyres from?

Thanks

I would put a 3.00 section on, 2.75 is on the skinny side.

Thanks,
I was wondering how wide I could go on front and back rims, more is better.
I am having trouble finding 18 and 16 inch tyres...odd sizes for today I guess

Yes it will. And in my opinion looks better (fuller) too. Rear is typically a 3.5", regardless of 16" or 18" wheel.

Hi Alex, Sorry I am a bit late with info on the tyres. I up sized the tyres a little on my 77 supa 5 TS and have just ordered the same for my Saxon Tour 301.these are from Pneus Online, and the sizes are rear, Metezeler Perfect 77 size 110/90 x 16 at £49.81. Same on front size 3.00 x 18 at £47.25. For your info they come from France, but only take 3 to 5 days and in my case it was 3 days. As I said, sorry if this info is a bit late. have a great safe summer
Just had a thought I should have mentioned I am running with Tubes not tubeless. Take care Alan.

Thanks guys
always helpful.
I ordered a 300x18 Michelin city pro, it did take 8 days though! mostly due to easter and delivery from the EU
The rear has plenty tread and is a good brand so I will leave it on, hopefully the rubber will not have hardened.

Hi Alex, Seeing that you are going to run on the existing rear tyre I felt I must mention the following. I worked for Ford Motor Co for 30yrs as a design engineer and our tyre man said that forget the tread depth it's the age, and the recommended age max was 7 years so I will add this info.
The date your tyres were made will be on the sidewall in the form of four numbers usually preceded by the letters DOT. These numbers represent the week number and year, so 3410 will be week 34, 2010. Use that information to make sure you're buying tyres with the longest shelf life possible. Of course it's entirely up to you. The famous one for tyre problems is a caravan (camper van) they always have loads of tread and on an older van people think, that's got lots of tread and then bang. Hope that may be of use, take care Alan.

Thanks Alan,

Great info, never knew about that, I will check it out later today.
If it is more than two years old I will change it.

Regards,

Alex

Don`t be too hasty!
I`m sure you know that storage condition make a huge difference to how a tyre deteriorates.
I`ve A 4 year old tyre on the front of the Mastif that was stored in cool, dark conditions, and there have been no problems with it, and i have tried!
