MZ ETZ251 Grimeca caliper seal missing

HI folks,

My MZ ETZ251 had a slight weep from the joint at the top of the caliper so I stripped it down expecting to find a small seal between the caliper faces where the fluid transfers accross but...no seal.
The photo shows both sides of the caliper, there is very little space for any kind of seal at the fluid transfer port, should there be a seal here?

Regards

I don't personally know the Grimeca caliper Alexx, but judging from the caliper rebuild kits available for Grimeca (generic example http://www.pmtuning.co.uk/tr6441005 ), and the twin pot calipers fitted to my car - they all contain an 'O' ring to fit in the transfer port. Usually there is a rebate for the ring to fit in, but I seriously doubt there should be nothing there.

Thanks Derek,

There was nothing there when split (why it was weeping I guess)
I also think there should be a seal there possibly a small square section seal but there is very little recess for any seal.
Will contact parts suppliers
Regards

For anyone else with this Grimeca type caliper, I found and ordered a sealing O-ring for it.
The size is 10mm od 2mm height and width so you should be able to source one of these easy enough.
I have assembled but not yet tested the caliper but will post on here once ready.
The O ring I got was flat on one side, I expect it should be either flat or round both sides as both halves have the exact same 0.5mm recess.

Never seen an 'O' ring flat on one side. Must be a 'D' ring!?!? I take it the flat is on an upper or lower face. Anyways, if the recesses are both the same shape, then it won't make any difference which way round it goes in. Be good to hear if it stops the weep.

Hi Folks,

New seal fitted and all working great...IT IS A D RING ! not an O ring.
I thought the part I got was wrong but would work, it was a D ring (flat on one side..no idea why it needs that as recess same on both sides)
Anyway I emailed Grimeca in Italy asking what is the correct part and where to buy, surprisingly got a reply that kindly offered me a free correct seal, it turned out to be a little D ring not an O ring.
Not sure if D ring is a correct term but it fits the bill.

Hi Dave,

Unfortunately not, just a seal in an envelope but I have emailed to ask a part number and dimensions.
