TS250 top end on an ETZ251?

Postby alexxx » Wed Aug 16, 2017 9:28 am

Has anyone ever put a top end from a TS250 onto an ETZ251 bottom end? is it possible?
I am looking to improve the torque of my ETZ251, I had read that the above conversion is the best of both worlds, bottom half with electronic ign and an oil pump, top half with the more torquey setup.
Internet myth or can it be done?

As far as I am aware (I've never had TS250 unfortunately.... don't judge me.. :P ), the TS250 and the ETZ250 have completely different port positions. Namely, the TS piston ports are towards the front of the engine, and the ETZ have them directly at a 90 degree angle from the intake and that of the out take ports.

As for ignition though.. you can buy 6v electronic ignitions.. I currently use the 12v version of this and so far after 2,000 miles I have not had a specific problem with the ignition itself. I have had problems but not directly related to this.

Oiling.. well.. that's just one of those things. I have my pumps disconnected and just use pre-mix. It's no biggy really. I always fill up when I get to reserve, and just chuck in 500ml. (30 to 1). :smt006
