4 speed TS250 engine rebuild

Hi all,

I'm going to have another go at my TS250 engine in the next couple of weeks. I'm going for a full rebuild so will be splitting the crankcase. The MZ manual says you need a special tool for this that essentially looks like a sheet of folded metal with holes in. Do you actually need this or can it be done without it?

If anyone has experience of splitting the crankcase before then any advice would be appreciated!

Cheers now! T

It can be done without it. But using this tool makes it much easier to split...
But what you need for 100% is the clutch extractor.

Indeed, as Guesi says, It primarily allows a equal case splitting application and leverage to do so.

It allows more, for example pulling in the crankshaft of if stucks halfway in the crankcase .Or pushing it out of the crankcase etc.
You can see it on the MZ videos on youtube

Thanks, I think I'll give it a go without the special tool. I have no doubt that there'll be problems!
I finally have the correct (I hope) clutch puller...
