MZ TS250 neutral detent bearing HELP!

Postby NVA250 » Mon Feb 26, 2018 6:26 pm

Evening all,

I'm in the slow process of putting my TS250 4 speed engine back together. The engine was partially dissembled when I got it and I've discovered a small, but important part is missing.

On the underside of the engine there is what looks like a second oil drain plug, but this is spring loaded and should have a ball bearing at the top which acts as a neutral detent (whatever that is!). I have the spring and the nut but no ball bearing, I can only assume that the last owner has lost it. I think it's just a ball bearing that I need, but what size? I have been told by Martin from Burwins motorcycles that he thinks it's 3/16. Does anyone know it that's correct?

Thanks in advance Tim

The diameter of the ball is 8 mm.

Great! That works out as 5/16 I think so I must have misheard 3/16 (imperial was never my strong point!). I've ordered an 8mm bearing so will see how that fits
