Hi!
I own a 89' Simson S 51 and it runs still reliable. The MZ-sticker at the tank must be a joke. MZ and Simson are two different factories in different cities. Unfortunately, Simson doesn't exist any more.

to go to bigger and better things
ar dave

would you believe i have seen more of these 50cc mopeds
here in the usa than i have seen mz motorcycles

I know some Online-shops, but they are all in german. In Germany you get almost everything for the S50 or S51. How is the situation in the UK?

@ Dave: I'm surprised, although I know, that Simson exported in many countrys. But also to the US..... amazing! :-)

Last year I ordered something from this shop:

http://www.simson-mz.de/

But usually I buy my spare-parts in a local shop. I call it my "little paradise", because in general he has all important parts in stock. :)

That's a Simson S51E ! [the E is for enduro] ...

Plenty in the UK [mostly in my fuggin' shed  ] ...

Wilf Green imported them badged / logbook registered as MZ 50's ... Mostly the earlier models, the later were badged as Simsons.
My first bike was a Simson S50B .. Badged from new as an MZ ... [though i covered the MZ Badges (we don't need no steenkin'..) with ...
Fuel Injection' Stickers in the style of the Ford Badge ! The early 80's & a 16 year old yoof' were not in love with the MZ Marque in those days

Different histories ... Different Factories ... But here in the UK they were both MZ's to us ! Fact !

It's like saying CCM's are not CCM's anymore just because they are sourced in China or Suzuki Engined !

A CCM ... is whatever the present owners of CCM deem fit to sell as a CCM ... Just because it's not your idea of a CCM ... doesn't mean it's not one !

Same goes for two stroke harleys ... !

Triumphs too .. !

No matter what the opinions of die hards in different countries tell you ... They have a shared history, share many design points, many shared cycle part suppliers ... and share the name on the tank & logbook in the UK ...

Yea Yea ... I know this posts ancient & the guys probably long gone ... But i have just arrived .. and thought 'Simson' would be a good place to start !
