more questions.... 2005 MZ1000S

Postby scott964 » Tue Sep 22, 2009 8:40 pm

Ok, more questions..... isn't there a catalytic converter in this bike? And would the single exhaust increase power, or just noise. I know that loosing the rear cross over in a Guzzi V11 or Yamaha VMAX actually looses power.... makes it louder, but does nothing for more top end or low end grunt.

Is there a better full system available, that can be purchased and shipped to the USA? I understand that a system like this would be off road only, but seems it would boost power, add some torque and shave a good deal of weight off as well as making a bit more noise.

Thank you again.......

Scott
There are a few owners subscribing to this forum on your side of the pond that will give you a more accurate asessment of the machine's capabilities under American conditions, but from my own experience you will not need any more power than the standard bike can provide. Spares are not a problem at the moment and a few european companies can supply special exhausts etc. If the odometer reading is correct then the engine is barely run/broken in. Reading through previous threads on this forum will provide you with a very good source of general info and maintenance tips. The bike will function without a cat.

i made my own ,,sort off ,get a pair of link pipes made up and fit any slip on silencer that you fancy ,i fitted a pair off carbon micron cans to mine ,very loud bike seems to rev more freely and the weight saving is astonding ,i got the pipes and cans for less than £200,
with running a 2 into 2 system i kept the cat ,as i feel it may effect low down torque [i may b wrong] although it seems that running a 2 into 1 you can remove the cat
