New to the forum and don't know my way around yet

Postby Rookie1749 » Sat Jun 17, 2017 4:01 am

Hello every one, thank you for having me. I know there is probably a thread on here already if someone could point me in the right direction. I'm looking for parts for my MZ 125. I know nothing about these bikes as this is my first one. What I do know is, I have no spark. I've tried a different ignition coil but still nothing. So my next item to change out is the CDI box but do not know where to find one to purchase. As previously stated, I know nothing about this bike so please don't treat me as if I'm completely dumb because I know some about other bikes. I want to keep the bike as stock as humanly possible but I also want mid to higher end parts. I have attached a few photos of what the bike looks like as well as the VIN plaquired if that will assist in getting the answers I am looking for. Thank you for any and all help it is greatly appreciated. Thank you all once again I'm really anxious to get it up and running.

Hi Rookie1749.

Usually I'd rule out a CDI as the problem, they are very reliable & also very expensive, there are a couple for sale on German ebay, the only place I know for new parts is Grahams Motorcycles in the UK.

The only reason I think it's the CDI is because it looks like some one has tried to get into it. They have used a knife or something of the sort to chip away at the epoxy that holds all the wires in place. I've checked over all the other wiring and it looks to be good. I'm just not getting anything out of the factory coil, or another coil I hooked up to make sure it wasn't a bad coil. And thank you for the heads up on the number and email address.

There isn't any side stand switches, what would I look for on the handle bars? There is only the one kill switch/on and off rocker style switch and the starter button and they both seem to work fine.

No, no headlight, tail lights or blinkers. No gauges except for the oil pressure, neutral and water temp lights.

Ok I found it in the parts book, but my next question is, where do I order from the book? And there are 3 different boxes, does it matter which one? The one for speed sounds fun haha but i don't want to put too much stress on the bike and ruin it since it sounds like it's a limited edition so to speak.
